George A. Lombardo, P.E., President and CEO at Lizardos, brings over 35 years of extensive engineering experience to his role. Joining Lizardos in September 1992, George has been a cornerstone of the firm’s leadership and technical excellence. Throughout his career, George has managed and designed numerous central heating and refrigeration plant projects. He is also the lead Quality Assurance and Quality Control Engineer, diligently reviewing engineering documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and constructibility across all projects. His expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of complex engineering challenges, with significant contributions to Healthcare Facilities, Educational Institutions, Critical Infrastructure, and Sustainable Engineering. George holds a B.S.ME. from Polytechnic University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in New York, and several other states across the U.S., and is also a LEED® Accredited Professional, underscoring his commitment to sustainable design practices.
John E. Lizardos, P.E., LEED AP, Sr. Vice President at Lizardos, brings over 40 years of extensive experience in the design of mechanical HVAC systems for a diverse range of institutional and corporate clients. Since joining Lizardos in June 1980, John has been instrumental in numerous complex projects, often serving as Principal-in-Charge or Project Manager for clients including The Town of Southampton, Suffolk County, New York City School Construction Authority, hospitals in the Catholic Health Services network, Suffolk County Community College, Northwell Health, Nassau University Medical Center, et al. Mr. Lizardos is a registered Professional Engineer in New York, and several states across the U.S., and holds National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) certification. A LEED® Accredited Professional and an ASHRAE Healthcare Design Professional (HFDP), Mr. Lizardos is a recognized leader in sustainable and specialized engineering solutions.
Ralph Aldorasi, P.E., LEED GA, is a Sr. Vice President and Principal Electrical Engineer at Lizardos, bringing over three decades of extensive experience in electrical engineering. Since joining Lizardos in September 1997, he has been a pivotal leader in a wide array of complex projects. His expertise spans critical areas including medium voltage distribution, building distribution, interior and exterior lighting, motor controls, emergency power, uninterruptible power (UPS) systems, load and short circuit analysis, ARC flash assessments, fire alarm and smoke detection, security systems, data center design, power monitoring, IT/network/data systems, and lightning/grounding systems.
Mr. Aldorasi’s project portfolio at Lizardos demonstrates his proficiency across diverse sectors, including healthcare facilities, universities, data centers, and large-scale infrastructure projects. He has led designs for LEED Gold certified buildings, critical MEP system renovations, emergency power expansions, and comprehensive fire alarm system upgrades. His long-time clients include Altice USA, Northwell Health, Major League Baseball, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
A registered Professional Engineer in numerous states, including New York, New Jersey, and Florida, Ralph also holds a LEED® Green Associate certification, underscoring his commitment to sustainable design practices. He earned his B.S.E.E. from Polytechnic University.
Marios C. Tinis, P.E., is a distinguished Sr. Vice President and a Principal electrical engineer at Lizardos, bringing over three decades of extensive expertise in electrical engineering design and project management. Since joining the firm in June 1999, Mr. Tinis has been instrumental in delivering innovative solutions for a diverse range of clients. His expertise encompasses critical areas such as Medium Voltage Distribution/Substations, Building Distribution, Interior and Exterior Lighting/Daylighting, Motor Controls, Emergency Power, Uninterruptible Power (UPS), Load Analysis / Short Circuit Analysis, ARC Flash Assessments /Hazard Analysis, Fire Alarm / Smoke Detection, Security / CCTV / Card Access / Surveillance, Data Center Design, Power Monitoring/SCADA, IT/Network / Data Systems, and Lightning/Grounding Systems. Mr. Tinis has successfully led projects for prominent institutions including SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Northwell Health, New York Presbyterian, Columbia Presbyterian, and SUNY Farmingdale. His work consistently focuses on delivering efficient, reliable, and code-compliant electrical systems. Marios holds a B.E.E.E. and an M.E.E.E. from the City College of New York. He is a registered Professional Engineer in numerous states including New York, and holds certifications in NFPA 2012, NFPA 99, and the Health Care Facilities Training Series.
Andrew B. Dubel, P.E., LEED BD+C, serves as an Associate Vice President and Principal in Charge at Lizardos, bringing over 20 years of extensive engineering experience. Joining the firm in 2006, he manages the staff in Lizardos’ NYC office. Mr. Dubel specializes in the design of mechanical systems, including HVAC and central plant design. His expertise encompasses a wide range of renovation and expansion projects, with a particular focus on energy-saving and sustainable initiatives. He is proficient in coordinating energy modeling and energy audit projects, ensuring efficient and environmentally conscious designs. His client experience includes CUNY, SUNY, NYU Langone, Altice USA and NYC Health + Hospitals Corp, among others. Andrew earned his B.S.M.E. from the University of Maryland. He is a registered Professional Engineer in New York and holds a LEED BD+C certification, reflecting his commitment to sustainable building practices.
Dirk Anderson, P.E., LEED AP, is an Associate Vice President at Lizardos and Principal Electrical Engineer, bringing over 19 years of extensive experience in the design, construction, and conditional assessment of electrical systems for new and existing facilities. He joined Lizardos in June 2011. Mr. Anderson has designed electrical systems for a diverse clientele, including healthcare, educational, municipal, and commercial sectors. Clients include, but are not limited to, Suffolk County DPW, PANY&NJ, Northwell Health, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dirk’s comprehensive experience encompasses master planning, building and facility assessments, engineering studies, and the design and construction administration of both medium and low voltage power systems. He is a certified Fire Protection Engineer and a LEED accredited professional. He earned his B.S.E.E. from New York Institute of Technology and his B.E.I.T. from the University of Technology, Jamaica. Mr. Anderson is a registered Professional Engineer in multiple states, including New York, New Jersey, California, and Florida.
Matthew R. Liff, P.E., is an Associate Vice President and Principal Mechanical Engineer at Lizardos, bringing over 16 years of experience in the design and construction management of mechanical systems. Having joined the firm full time in 2010 following a successful internship, his expertise encompasses HVAC design, central utility plants, and building automation systems for health care, collegiate, and commercial sectors. Mr. Liff’s notable clients include Lenox Hill Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Care, Mount Sinai, Montefiore, and Northwell Health Hospitals.
Mr. Liff holds a B.S.M.E. from Rochester Institute of Technology and is a registered Professional Engineer in New York, and several other states.
Patrick J. Tennant, P.E, CBCP, CEM, is an Associate Vice President and Principal Mechanical Engineer at Lizardos, with over 16 years of diversified mechanical engineering experience. Joining the firm in June 2013, his background includes expertise in the power industry and mechanical building systems. Mr. Tennant is a Certified Energy Manager and a Certified Building Commissioning Professional. He leads the firm’s Energy/Sustainability Department and serves as the primary contact for the NYSERDA Flextech Service and PSEG Technical Assistance Efficiency programs. He has designed, commissioned and provided construction administration for clients including Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory, NYU Langone Long Island, Huntington Hospital, Kedrion Biopharma, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
He holds a B.S.M.E. from the University of Notre Dame, graduating Cum Laude. Mr. Tennant is a registered Professional Engineer in NY and several other states.
S. Steve Sonmez, P.E, LEED AP, CBCP, CEM, is an Associate Vice President and Director of Commissioning Services at Lizardos with over 30 years of mechanical engineering experience. Since originally joining the firm in 1998, his background encompasses Project Management, HVAC design, HVAC field testing, and commissioning of critical systems and sustainable projects. Mr. Sonmez is a certified commissioning agent, providing fundamental, enhanced, and retro-commissioning services. His project experience spans healthcare, collegiate, corporate, municipal, and correctional facilities. Mr. Sonmez has worked with a wide array of clients including Wildlife Conservation Society (The Aquarium at Coney Island, Prospect Park Zoo), Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey
A graduate of The New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in Mechanical Engineering, he also has a Master’s degree from NYIT in Energy Management. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York and several states, and is a LEED® Accredited Professional, Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), and Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
Robert P. Dructor, an Associate Vice President at Lizardos, brings more than 30 years of experience in technical design, facility planning, and construction management, with a specialized focus on pharmaceutical, biotechnology, laboratory, healthcare, municipal, and commercial facilities. Since joining Lizardos in 2019, Bob has led complex projects that combines strong technical detailing with hands-on field experience, enabling him to guide projects from schematic design through construction administration, start-up, and closeout documentation.
A Registered Architect in New York, and several other states, Bob is also a LEED Accredited Professional and certified in Commissioning/Validation through ISPE. Bob holds an Associate in Applied Science in Civil Engineering Technology from Hudson Valley Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology from the New York Institute of Technology.
Riza Susel serves as Associate Vice President and Principal-in-Charge at Lizardos, where he provides executive oversight of the firm’s Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineering Department. Since joining the firm in 2018, Riza has leveraged over 15 years of multi-disciplinary experience to deliver high-performance engineering solutions. His leadership is defined by a rigorous commitment to balancing life safety, operational efficiency, and sustainable design, ensuring every project achieves a seamless integration of technical excellence and fiscal responsibility.Riza’s extensive portfolio spans high-rise developments, mission-critical laboratories, and specialized healthcare environments. His career highlights include directing the MEP/FP engineering for the landmark Garvies Point mixed-use community, as well as spearheading critical infrastructure designs for premier institutions such as NYU Langone, Northwell Health, Queens College, and Hofstra University.
A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Riza is a licensed Fire Protection Professional Engineer in New York, New Jersey, Tennessee and Virginia. He is a recognized specialist in fire protection and life safety, holding NFPA 99 certification for the design of healthcare and critical care facilities.
